"You are amazing! You made me feel amazing!...I haven't stopped raving about Mountaingirl and Chamonix and my experience since getting back. To have had so much fun, pushed myself harder than I thought I could and made some new friends... well, it's more than I ever imagined it would be. Thank you for everything...I can't thank you enough for the Mountaingirl experience. You've been an absolute star from the word go. Your enthusiasm and passion for the mountains shines through in everything that you do." Julie Alpine-Crabtree, July 2007
This is a REAL introduction to what Chamonix has to offer, what ski touring and ski mountaineering is about, with the added benefit of some 'secret' tours by our fabulous Mountain Guide Isabelle Santoire. This week will only be run once this year, so we hope you'll join us...
Day 1: You'll start the first day exploring the off-Piste potential of Le Tour, a great area known for fun good quality powder but nothing too steep for your skill level. You'll learn the basics of ski touring, which include the deceptively-hard-to-master kick turns, and get super useful top-tips from your talented guide on how to make it all more fun (and more efficient / easy) on a tour, then you'll be finishing your skiing day by crossing over to Switzerland.
Day 2: A fun and challenging ski tour in the Aiguilles Rouges mountain range, facing the magnificent skyline of the Mont Blanc Massif. Always a great day out and a chance to put into practice some of the skills you learned the previous day.
Day 3: Rest day, with optional sports massage or spa trips, and shopping... and/ or piste skiing on your own to shake out the soreness while we help you test out some of the latest new skis if you're keen!
Day 4: A guided ski down the famous Vallée Blanche - you depart from the top of the Aiguille du Midi Station (3800m) and ski all the way down a glorious stunning glacier...It's one of the longest formal descent intineraries in the world, and every moment is utterly breath-taking. You'll also have a short ski tour and ever-important capuccino stop worked into the day's itinerary, too.
Day 5: Mystery tour: Our guide Isa is a genius at finding 'secret locations' and fresh powder. She always makes it a wonderful and amazing day, especially when she takes us out to her favourite untainted secret ski areas, so your final day will be something really special- the route being based on what's in condition and on what offers the best snow at the time. It will be an incredible day, though, so bring your cameras!
