"Thank you so much for a fantastic weekend. Everything was absolutely brilliant; the organisation, the guiding, the ice, the weather, and the experience. I got so much out of the weekend. Please pass on my thanks and say a big hello to Isa and Ulrika - they were both really inspirational guides and I wouldn't have liked to learn to ice climb with anyone else!"
Clare Newman, London, March '07
For those of you who have climbed ice before, (ideally more than 3-5 times) and want to get beyond the basics and put in quality mileage on the ice. Here, you can focus intensively on learning the technical moves and tactics that will make challenging climbs even more fun.
You'll learn more advanced skills, for example: techniques for leashless climbing, efficiency on steeper ice, trusting hooks, using flagging and cross-throughs, etc. We’ll try to get you to experience as many different kinds of ice as possible over the three full climbing days - from brittle, plastic, or chandeliered, to cauliflowered, free standing or overhanging. And if you wish, you'll also be able to explore some alpine-mixed climbs as well as some basic dry-tooling techniques. All this, whiile our guides coach you, give you hot tea and keep you laughing through the hard parts.
And for climbers who who want to learn how to safely progress onto easy leads, you'll learn some great tips and tricks to really help your leading improve: finding rests, efficient and safe placement of protection, alternative forms of protection, sound and fast anchors, rope management, and mental tactics to help you progress in style.
