Mont Blanc Summit Week

28 August - 4 September, 2010 - 3 spaces remaining
€1695 euros

Join us and climb the highest mountain in Europe, whilst spending a week acclimatising and perfecting your skills for your guided summit bid. All during the week leading up to the climb, you won't just be 'dragged up hills' but you'll spend an intensive week of instruction and learning (and fun, we promise). All whilst improving your crampon & ice axe skills, and general mountain skills for maximising speed and safety as you climb several nearby peaks in preparation for climbing Mont Blanc. Then, when the weather window is best, we'll aim for either the three shoulders route of Mont Blanc or the Gouter Route- depending on weather, route conditions, and your skill and fitness level.

The Three Shoulders Route takes you from the Cosmique Refuge at the Midi over Mont Blanc du Tacul, Mont Maudit and finally summitting Mont Blanc. This route is more technical than the Gouter, and involves some easy ice climbing during the route, but is a beautiful and varied climb. The Gouter is less technical, but is considered the classic route up to the Summit, and offers a range of terrain and equally incredible views.

We recommend you have some alpine or mountaineering experience already (e.g., you have walked in crampons and used some alpine axe techniques previously as well.) If not, give us a call as we can arrange a preparation week for you to get the basic skills you'll need to join this course. And, the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy this beautiful route. (And, we are more than happy to lend you any equipment that you do not have, or cannot rent or borrow from your friends.)

Note: The course fee covers all guiding, instruction and workshops, but does not cover hut fees or uplift / telepheriques. If you are a BMC member (which we recommend you join for their good insurance anyways), you will receive a generous discount at all alpine huts through a reciprocal agreement. This course covers 5 guided days but allows a day for a rest day / or for a 'weather window' for a better chance at a successful summit. Please note that the 28th is an arrival day, and the 4th is a departure day, normally.
