The Guides

All the guides for our courses are top-level female fully-qualified UIAGM mountain guides, and they also happen to be some of the best (and nicest) climbers around. They have all been specially chosen not only for their skills, knowledge and safety, but also for their enthusiasm, patience with others, and a deep love of the mountains that never fails to inspire those around them.

Our 2009-2010 guides are: Isabelle Santoire (Canada / France), Nathalie Hagenmuller (France), Ulrika Asp (Sweden / France), Anna Torretta (Italy / France), Libby Peter (UK), Kathy Cosley (USA/ France), Zoe Hart (USA / France), Sara Berthelot (France) and our newest addition to the gang, Caroline George (US/Switzerland). We'll continually add to this list, and let you know of new additions to our group.

Whichever guide we choose for your course, you can always rest assured that they will be safe, encouraging, and, generally all-round amazing.

Mountaingirl

Mountaingirl was formed to create a resource for women climbers of all levels as well as a network for female guides and instructors, so we could all benefit from each other’s experience and friendship both on and off the mountain.
But, for the record, all of us at Mountaingirl really enjoy climbing with guys, too, we promise. We’ve also found that our climbing has been supported and encouraged in profound ways by climbing with women - and, it pretty much guarantees lots of laughter on a route...even in bad weather, or run-out with no gear placements in sight. Mountaingirl itself is very much a group effort, and was formed with the help, advice and hard work of several incredible guides and climbers in both the UK and Chamonix.

Louise Alexander, founder

Louise (who runs Mountaingirl) has been climbing rock and ice all over the world for several years, though her favourite place is Chamonix. Climbing, and a life in the mountains, has influenced her more than anything else, and has allowed her the privilege of friendships with extraordinary people who have inspired her, made her laugh, and caught her falls.
