Environment

Mountaingirl is passionate about giving back as much as we take from the mountains.

We follow carefully all UIAA environment guidelines and recommendations and are also a member of 1% For The Planet, which financially supports environmental charities that really make a difference. This means that we give 1% of total sales (not profit) to environmental and conservation groups. Patagonia provides us with great advice so that we promote good practice in every aspect that we can in our company. They also sponsor us, largely because of our ethos and commitment to the mountain environment, for which we are very grateful.

Because we rely on the mountains for our sport, our livelihood, and our physical and mental well-being, we care deeply about minimising our impact as climbers and work to making the mountain environment better, not worse.

Each year we work with volunteer programmes both in the UK and in Chamonix, and we will always offer a 10% discount on any Mountaingirl course or bespoke guiding to clients who work one full day or more on one of these programmes. This includes projects like path maintenance in Scotland, tree planting in the Peak District, or working with recycling groups in the Chamonix valley, for example. (It's actually quite good fun, and you meet some great people who love the mountains, at the same time.)
